Job Title – Test Engineer III 

Job Summary - The Test Engineer III will interact with cross-functional engineering groups to define, document, and analyze tests for cloud-related products, systems, components, or modifications. The role is responsible for identifying functional issues, suggesting resolutions, and defining internal quality control standards while ensuring adherence to industry-specific testing standards. Additionally, the Test Engineer III will provide feedback and recommendations on product or design changes, and work to enhance the overall testing and quality control program. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with other engineering groups to define and document test plans for cloud services, systems, and components. 

  • Perform and interpret tests, ensuring compliance with industry-specific standards and best practices. 

  • Identify functional problems in cloud infrastructure, applications, and migrations, suggesting appropriate resolutions. 

  • Ensure testing aligns with strategic goals related to NIH cloud services and larger NIH objectives. 

  • Analyze test results, document issues, and provide recommendations for product design and architecture changes. 

  • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and cloud service providers to modify or develop testing protocols for components and ensure compliance with security and reliability programs. 

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing procedures, tools, and methods to improve overall quality and efficiency. 

  • Participate in cross-functional assessments related to cloud security, application data management, and integration of cloud modules, workflows, and automation. 

  • Document testing results and maintain reliability reports for strategic cloud services and their impact on NIH goals. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. 

  • 4 to 7 years of experience in software testing, cloud services, or related areas. 

  • Proven experience with cloud architecture, cloud data management, and cloud security services. 

  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks, test automation tools, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines. 

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and relevant testing methodologies. 

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills. 

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on moderately complex projects. 

  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and strategic advisement. 

  • Experience with cloud service providers and cloud migrations (on-premise to cloud or between cloud providers). 

  • Experience with scientific computing, data science workflows, and cloud automation. 

  • Familiarity with GitHub, Azure AD federation, and cloud-native testing tools. 

  • Knowledge of NIST, FIPS, and NIH security standards and best practices 

Compensation and Benefits 

The projected compensation range for this position is $105,750 to $142,500 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The target salary is $123,000. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
