Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Security Manager provides operational guidance into affiliate security programs that foster a cohesive system approach, while adapting implementation strategies to align with the affiliate's culture. The Security Manager ensures effective coordination of staffing, technology, and processes such as incident reporting, analysis, budgeting, and crime prevention to protect the organizations employees, visitors, property, and assets. In this position, the Security Manager will be responsible for the supervision of security officers, Shift Supervisors, and the physical security of the hospital campus and its surrounding areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage all security officers.
- Conduct investigations into workplace violence, suspicious situations, possible crimes and other violations, and coordinate security efforts to mitigate security risks and threats.
- Collaborate with corporate risk management to develop specialized safety procedures and educations programs.
- Monitor and detect any illegal activity on-site, including both internal and external security issues on company premise.
- Develop and implement various training programs covering procedures, ethics and integrity to enhance operation performance.
- Assigns areas for patrols and presents a list of potential problems the officers should be on the lookout for.
- Oversee any situation involving a crime and is responsible for contacting and communicating with law enforcement agents upon arrival.
- Prepare and monitor departmental budgets, contracts, expenditures and purchases.
- Collaborates with Safety Committee to assure all safety plans and policies are up to date and being met, and is involved in periodic on campus safety drills for employees and patrons.
- Provide post coverage whenever necessary.
- Monitor attendance, tardiness, shift swaps and overtime usage.
- Responding to facility emergencies and incidents, as needed or when directed.
- Manage contractor and vendor relationships; review service contracts to ensure facility management needs are being met.
- Establish and implement policies, procedures, protocols, standards, and practices for the Security department to ensure compliance.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- In-depth knowledge of building security staffing models; developing post/patrol strategies; effectively applying security technologies; and coherently blending all program elements with tailored processes to effectively manage risk within a clinical environment.
- Broad working knowledge of health care operations and their related security requirements including, but not limited to, hospitals, clinics, medical offices, and their protective service's needs.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of current and emerging physical security trends, risks, threats, countermeasures, vulnerabilities, and mitigations ranging across the spectrum from workplace violence to terrorism to loss prevention to behavioral challenges.
- Solid expertise in formal/structured security risk assessment methodology, including the ability to mitigate risk by synchronizing the efforts and capabilities of people, process, and technology.
- Working knowledge to establish and deliver on key performance indicators that ensure high availability and integrity of security devices and equipment that are integrated into an overarching/coherent security plan.
- Written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to give presentations and translate complex concepts into business and clinician relatable language.
- Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence.
- Demonstrated ability to work under stress in emergencies, and the flexibility to handle simultaneous high pressure demands.
- Advanced level of competency in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as other relevant software for information management, research, and analysis.
- Superior ability to interact with all stakeholders, build relationships at all levels across all business units and organizations, and understand business imperatives.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic planning and tactical execution.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree preferably.
- Must have 5-10 years of relevant experience in security or law enforcement.
- Must have the ability to verbally communicate in a courteous manner, write concise and comprehensive reports.
- Must have a clean criminal record and in possession of a California Driver’s License. Adhere to compliance policies which include government mandated HHIPAA and PHI regulations.
Complexity:
- Ability to perform highly under mental periods of stress and pressure.
- May be exposed to inclement weather or be required to work in environments or under conditions that require the use of protective gear and devices and/or awareness of personal safety and safety of others.
