Location : Emeryville, Ca.


Direct Hire - Onsite


Salary : $80k - $110k per annum

Reviewing different numbers, violations, would be great if you came from a Law Firm. The Right Candidate is: someone who used to be a paralegal / legal secretary but also has accounting knowledge, Data Analyst and Statistics, coming up with Settlement Figures.


We have the opportunity for an experienced Data Analyst to join the firm's Data Analytics team to provide support for our Wage & Hour practice group navigating state and federal laws regarding off-the-clock work, meal and rest breaks, sick pay, overtime, bonuses, regular rates of pay, California's Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) and more. Data Analysts are responsible for providing internal and client facing analytic and data visualization solutions. This position will perform a number of duties, including developing processes and techniques to extract data from a variety sources, determining how best to analyze the data, and generating descriptive and statistical analysis on the data. This position requires prior experience providing statistical support, preferably in the employment litigation context.


Essential Functions:


  • Perform analysis related to a number of employment-specific project types, including class action, wage-and-hour, wrongful termination, worker's compensation and other litigation-related exposure or damages models.
  • Locate the necessary data sources, extract and convert raw, sometimes discordant data into structured files ready for analysis, verify data integrity, run preliminary descriptive analyses, and finalize documents and data for production.
  • Manipulate, clean, analyze, and refine data using a variety of tools including Access, Excel, and other software tools.
  • Create dashboards and other data visualizations to help drive insights and tell the story of the analysis.
  • Develop and document processes and techniques used to extract, clean, and analyze data.
  • Explain your work to others with varying degrees of technical experience.
  • Daily interaction with attorneys, clients and users, including presenting findings and summaries of analyses as well as collaborating to create data-driven solutions to improve their workflows or processes.
  • Proactively explores data looking for relationships, connections and latent value using both descriptive and statistical techniques.
  • Manage your projects and work with minimal direction to ensure that deadlines are met and relevant stakeholders are kept in the loop.
  • Assist other team members as needed to ensure that exceptional work product is delivered consistently and in a timely fashion.
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative field or a Bachelor's degree in another field and equivalent work experience in a quantitative capacity.
  • At least 3 years' experience as a data analyst or business data analyst providing support for employment litigation, including for class action, discrimination, wage and hour, pay equity, reduction-in-force, and PAGA claims.
  • Significant experience extracting, analyzing, cleaning, and interpreting client compensation data in a variety of forms.
  • Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization platform or an interest in learning.
  • Expert-level Excel skills and familiarity with MS Office suite.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and comfortable querying databases.
  • Comfortable interacting with attorneys and clients and taking on prominent role related to data, including presenting the results of your analysis to clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to explain complicated analysis and processes in terms that are understandable to non-experts both orally and in writing.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently and with little supervision and able to work through and resolve technical issues on their own.
  • Team player, customer service focused, and adept at multi-tasking and prioritization
  • Initiative and problem-solving abilities with a focus on building it better and continuous improvement.
  • Keen interest in technology and innovation, and ability to quickly learn new platforms.
