About Nontraditional Employment For Women
Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW) is a workforce development organization dedicated to preparing, training, and placing women in skilled construction, utility, and maintenance trades in the New York City metropolitan area. Through comprehensive training, education, and job placement initiatives, NEW has successfully transformed the lives of countless women while advocating for policy changes that support gender diversity in the workplace.
Position Overview The Training Coordinator will collaborate closely with the training, employment and supportive services staff and report to the Director of Training. They will manage the day-to-day delivery of NEW’s pre-apprenticeship training programs.
Key Responsibilities - Apply strength-based strategies to oversee and support the participation of 20–25 students enrolled in NEW’s pre-apprenticeship training programs.
- Oversee all aspects of the implementation of training cohorts.
- Provide ongoing programmatic and student support during the training.
- Monitor student progress during the training and provide feedback.
- Provide orientations for the public on NEW’s programs.
- Facilitate classes in industry overview and job readiness as needed.
- Serve as a liaison between the students and instructors.
- Manage data and monitor data entry, student files, class materials and process reports.
- Support the employment team with exit interview process.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Experience The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, innovative, and creative thinker with project planning experience. They should possess keen attention to detail, the ability to take initiative, work independently, prioritize work and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Associate degree and at least 3 years direct service experience, customer service, non-profit outreach, facilitation, etc.
- Experience in program development and/or project management.
- Interest and experience in young adult and adult development.
- Experience organizing programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.
- Demonstrates ability and strong desire to take initiative in expanding and developing NEW’s programming.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and an ability to interact well with and understand the interests of diverse client bases including women, instructional staff, partner organizations, unions, and colleagues.
- Proficient in data analysis, database management, and Microsoft Suite.
- Available to work daytime and/or evening schedule, as necessary; ability to work flexible hours as needed.
- Knowledge of New York City social service systems and community-based organizations.
Strongly Preferred - Valid Driver’s License with access to a licensed vehicle.
- Experience in nonprofits or workforce development.
- Familiarity with the construction industry, workforce development, and organized labor is highly desirable.
- Experience with using databases like Salesforce and Google Spreadsheet.
