Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team. This role involves nonsterile compounding following USP 795 standards and managing inventory for the compounding department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nonsterile compounding, inventory management, and adherence to company policies and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Nonsterile Compounding
- Perform nonsterile compounding of medications in accordance with USP 795 standards.
- Accurately weigh, measure, and mix ingredients to create compounded medications.
- Ensure all compounded medications are prepared with precision and comply with prescribed formulations.
- Maintain clean and organized compounding areas, ensuring all equipment and supplies are used properly and safely.
- Adhere to all company policies and regulatory requirements regarding the preparation of compounded medications.
- Document all compounding activities accurately and thoroughly in compliance with USP 795 and company policies.
Inventory Management
- Oversee and manage the inventory of the compounding department, ensuring optimal stock levels of raw materials and supplies.
- Perform regular inventory counts and audits to maintain accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Order and replenish inventory as needed, maintaining relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Monitor and manage expiration dates of inventory, ensuring proper rotation and disposal of expired items.
- Implement and maintain inventory tracking systems to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Ensure proper storage conditions for all inventory, including temperature control and protection from contamination.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Pharmacy Technician program preferred.
- Current pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) and state licensure in good standing.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in nonsterile compounding and inventory management.
- Thorough knowledge of USP 795 standards and best practices for nonsterile compounding.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed.
- Proficiency with pharmacy management software and inventory tracking systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and suppliers.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform tasks that involve physical activity for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and handle inventory items up to 10 to 20 lbs safely.
