Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team for a 12+ months project based in Bristol, VA. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in sheet metal design and electrical switchgear, with strong proficiency in CAD software. This is a contract, on-site position.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and sheet metal parts.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to support electrical switchgear projects.
Create and modify 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidEdge (or SolidWorks/Inventor).
Review and validate designs to ensure compliance with technical specifications and project requirements.
Provide engineering support throughout the project lifecycle, including prototyping and troubleshooting.
Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to optimize designs for manufacturability and performance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
3-7 years of professional experience in mechanical design.
Hands-on experience with sheet metal design and electrical switchgear.
Proficiency in SolidEdge is preferred; SolidWorks or Inventor experience is acceptable.
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
