Position Summary
The Landscape Solar Manager will oversee vegetation management, grounds maintenance, and landscaping activities across utility-scale solar project sites. This role is responsible for ensuring vegetation control supports site safety, performance optimization, and regulatory compliance. Must hold a valid pesticide applicator license and have experience managing large-scale landscape operations in an energy or industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage vegetation management plans for utility-scale solar sites, ensuring optimal ground coverage and panel performance.
Oversee mowing, trimming, spraying, and herbicide application in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Maintain pesticide applicator license and ensure all pesticide and herbicide use follows environmental and safety guidelines.
Supervise landscaping crews, contractors, and seasonal workers to maintain quality and efficiency.
Coordinate schedules to align vegetation control with solar O&M and safety activities.
Monitor and maintain records of pesticide usage, inventory, and application logs.
Identify and address erosion control, drainage, and invasive species concerns.
Ensure all work complies with safety protocols, including PPE use, hazard identification, and site access procedures.
Work closely with Operations, Environmental, and Compliance teams to support performance, aesthetics, and sustainability goals.
Prepare and manage budgets for landscaping and vegetation management activities.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in landscaping, horticulture, environmental science, or related field preferred.
Minimum 5 years' experience in landscaping, vegetation management, or grounds maintenance, preferably in energy, construction, or industrial environments.
Valid pesticide applicator license NC required.
Knowledge of integrated vegetation management (IVM) best practices.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and contractors.
Ability to operate and maintain landscaping equipment and vehicles.
Strong organizational, recordkeeping, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and environmental compliance requirements.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Lift, carry, and handle equipment up to 50 lbs.
Ability to travel to multiple solar project sites as needed.
