Job Title: Payer Analytics Specialist 

Location: Onsite - Chicago, IL

Job Summary 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Payer Analytics Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess the skills necessary to analyze CPT-level data, benchmark and compare rates from various payers within specific zip codes, and develop compelling business cases to support contract negotiations with health insurance companies. This role is open to both experienced professionals and recent graduates who demonstrate the right skill set. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Data Analysis: Analyze CPT-level data to identify trends, patterns, and insights relevant to healthcare services and payer rates. 

  • Benchmarking: Compare and benchmark rates provided by different health insurance payers within designated zip codes to assess competitive positioning. 

  • Reporting: Utilize Power BI to create, maintain, and present interactive dashboards and reports that convey key findings to stakeholders. 

  • Data Management: Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and manage data from various databases. 

  • Business Case Development: Prepare comprehensive business cases to support negotiations with health insurance companies, highlighting data-driven recommendations. 

  • Market Research: Conduct research on payer market trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions. 

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Operations, Contracting, and Clinical departments, to ensure alignment and support strategic initiatives. 

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance data processes, reporting tools, and analytical methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness. 

  • Compliance: Ensure all analyses and reporting adhere to relevant healthcare regulations and company policies. 

Qualifications 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Business, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, or a related field. 

  • Technical Skills: 

  • Proficiency in Power BI for data visualization and reporting. 

  • Strong knowledge of SQL for data extraction and manipulation. 

  • Experience with a data transformation language such as Python or R is preferred. 

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret complex data sets, identify trends, and provide actionable insights. 

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively present findings and collaborate with stakeholders. 

  • Presentation Skills: Ability to present the analysis in a compelling storyboard presentation. 

  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work. 

  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges. 

  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with healthcare data, particularly CPT codes and insurance payer structures. 

  • Familiarity with additional data tools or languages (e.g., Tableau, advanced Excel functions). 

  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement models and contract negotiation processes. 

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Health Data Analyst, Certified Business Intelligence Professional).
