The Theatre Department within the School of Performing Arts at DeSales University actively seeks a Directing/Acting specialist with the experience and ability to develop curricula, programming, and recruitment related to diverse populations. The Department seeks applications for a full-time faculty member who is a committed educator, scholar, and artist. Successful applicants can take advantage of extended long-term contracts with the possibility of conversion to tenure. The position requires candidates with a terminal degree in a directly related field, or a substantial professional career (Assistant Professor of Professional Practice). Candidates should also demonstrate a proven or presumptive record of successful undergraduate teaching experience. Salary is commensurate with experience, plus a strong benefits package. Appointment to begin August 2025.
DeSales University’s Theatre Department offers a BA degree in Theatre with 110 majors in four tracks (Acting for Stage and Screen, Musical Theatre, Design and Technology, and Theatre Education) and 8 full time faculty members. There is opportunity for collaboration with the Dance and TV/Film departments within the School of Performing Arts. During the summer months the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival is in residence at The Labuda Center for the Performing Arts and is a possible venue for additional faculty development.
