Our client is seeking a
Director of Education for the 2024-2025 school year. The client’s vision is to enrich the lives of children with disabilities so they can reach their maximum potential. They believe that potential has no limit and with proper education and therapy children can overcome any challenges to grow and develop to reach their true potential.
Position Summary Designs, implements, and leads the school’s education programs to ensure students with disabilities reach their maximum potential. Leads and supports education staff, promotes staff professional development, and aids in conducting education programs to meet the needs of the students. Interacts with parents in a timely manner to address student concerns and needs. Oversees regulatory compliance both federal and state to meet special education curriculum and operation requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Serves as the administration head of the Education department and manages all resources including department personnel, budget, supplies, and materials.
- Leads the planning, development, organization, coordination, and supervision of instructional programs and activities.
- Leads in the collection and analysis of data from state, district, and school assessments in planning specially designed instruction for students.
- Leads teachers and the school in acquiring appropriate curricular methods, materials, and equipment to support the special education program.
- Conducts regular classroom observations and provides feedback in addition to the regular ADPET evaluation cycle.
- Provides modeling for classroom teachers to include modeling lessons and inclusive practices.
- Facilitates professional development for staff that includes instruction in research-based methodologies, data collection, IEP goal development, progress monitoring and effective IEP development.
- Participates in recruitment and selection of special education staff to ensure high quality performance.
- Ensures compliance with district, state and federal mandates pertaining to students with disabilities.
- Provides technical assistance to school staff and parents pertaining to special education matters and resolving issues related to the least restrictive environment.
- Monitor, consult, and participate in IEP meetings, as necessary.
- Supports and contributes to the school’s growth.
- Ensures direct staff compliance with all school policies and procedures.
- Supervises extracurricular activities and student events and promotes family engagement.
- Consults, monitors, and maintains department budget.
- Complies with SC Program for Assisting Developing and Evaluating Principal Performance Standards (PADEPP).
- Demonstrates alignment with school’s mission and vision.
- Ensures continuous improvement for all students.
- Serves as the school contact for DSS and other state agencies and federal education compliance where applicable.
Minimum Qualifications:- Master’s degree in special education or a related field.
- Certification in Special Education.
- Three to five years administration/supervisory experience required.
- A minimum of three years teaching experience with students that have disabilities desired.
- Completion of ADEPT/PAS-T evaluator training.
- Proven record of accomplishment of effective communication.
- Advanced technology skills regarding accessing curriculum and Universal Designs for Learning.
- Demonstrates fairness, integrity, and ethical behavior.
