This is an exciting, opportunity to join our team at the California Science Center (CSC), a world-class science museum, that develops and features award-winning exhibits and internationally renowned education programs. The Science Center's workforce includes executive, managerial, supervisory, and administrative classifications, however, rank and file facility maintenance and skilled trades represent approximately fifty-one percent (51%) of its civil service workforce. We're seeking a Custodian to join our team. Under the direction of Custodian Supervisor I, the Custodian I performs custodial duties in an assigned area at the California Science Center, or associated state facility within Exposition Park. Duties include keeping the assigned area clean, orderly, and free of hazards. Custodians are expected to notify supervisors concerning the need for major repairs and any health and safety concerns observed during their work. Custodians working the day shift may encounter students and museum guests during business hours and are expected to always provide excellent customer service and maintain high traffic areas and restrooms clean and fully stocked. Custodians working the evening shift are expected to conduct deep cleaning activities to prepare the facility for the following day. All custodians are expected to monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as making sure staff-only doors remain closed.
This position is located in Los Angeles and is full-time (40 hours per week). The available work shifts may vary and may include any of the following schedules:
Sunday - Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Sunday - Thursday, 5:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Tuesday - Saturday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday - Saturday, 5:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Specific shift assignments will be determined based on the California Science Center's operational needs at the time of hire.
