Position Summary: The Curriculum Developer position supports the Open Studies academic unit, which includes online degree programs, lifelong learning programs, and youth programs in alignment with MICAs mission, vision, and strategic plan. The curriculum developer collaborates with academic leadership and program staff to create and improve innovative programs and partnerships that advance MICAs mission, meet enrollment goals and expectations, and help to realize MICAs commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and globalization. The curriculum developer will provide expertise aimed at creating novel and scalable ways to provide greater access to high-quality learning experiences to diverse audiences. This position will support faculty through course development training, ongoing coaching and ensuring learning outcomes are met. The curriculum developer will work closely with the instructional designer and technology support specialist who support MICAs online learning community.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development & Design

• Lead the development, implementation, evaluation, and refinement of new and existing curriculum.

• Create program and course learning outcomes that align with institutional outcomes and strategic initiatives.

• Assess current online programs to ensure curricular and instructional integrity and quality.

• Oversee curriculum review work with subject matter experts, including assigning the scope of work, reviewing reports, and implementing recommendations.

• Support transition to asynchronous course content delivery.

• Stay well-versed and informed on current best practices in online learning, course development, and new technologies.

• Coordinate the development of instructional materials that are functional, informative, and consistent with sound instructional design principles.

• Coordinate work with MICAs Office of Disability Services and instructional designer to improve accessibility of online courses.

Faculty Support

• Provide course development support to new and existing faculty through one-on-one coaching and training.

• Evaluate curricula to ensure alignment of course objectives and program outcomes with content, activities, and assessments.

• Support instructors by providing the foundational materials for courses and giving constructive feedback on how instructors are implementing those materials.

• Give informed, actionable feedback to instructors based on student feedback and evaluations.

• Provide recommendations to faculty on assignment design, sequencing of instruction, use of assessments, methods of providing feedback, and online interactive activities.

Assessment & Compliance

• Complete course audits and program assessments in alignment with MICAs internal and external schedules.

• Support MICA and the Open Studies unit in new program development as related to the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) standards, COMAR regulations, and Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) accreditation.

• Contribute to program assessments, reports, and implement data-driven revisions.

• Coordinate and carry out qualitative and quantitative data collection related to curriculum design and development.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

• Masters Degree in a related field

Demonstrated experience in the following areas

• Current theories, trends, and innovations related to contemporary approaches to curriculum design and development and Adult Learning Theory

• Effective evaluation of instructional and program effectiveness

• E-learning technologies including various operating systems, file structures, file formats, protocols, streaming audio and video tools.

• Effective data collection, analysis, and reporting

• Software platforms such as Canvas, Zoom, Workday, Asana, Google Workspace and Slack

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with and understanding of Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) new program proposal requirements, COMAR regulations, and regional accreditation standards.

• Laws, regulations, and best practices associated with students with disabilities, assistive technology and copyright issues (ADA, 504, 508, WCAG, FERPA, Chafee law, etc.) and assistive technology and software programs for individuals with disabilities

• Background in or knowledge of art and design education
