Job Description and Duties

The Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) is responsible for the supervision and guidance of eight employees in the Contract Services Unit (South). Duties include planning, organizing and directing contracting activities to ensure compliance with all required statutes, regulations, and policies. This position also acts as the Subject Matter Expert on the review and analysis of proposed legislation/bill analysis and X Number program. The SSM I also provides departmental staff and higher management with advice and consultation on complex and sensitive matters related to contracting activities.

Working Conditions

Incumbent will work in a standard business office environment under the direction of the Staff Services Manager II. Working hours will be Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm, on-site.

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code.  The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests.  The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.

Special Requirements

The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) serves as documentation of each applicant’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing.  Each question must be numbered and addressed in the same order as the questions below.  The SOQ must be typed, no more than two pages in length, and 12-point Arial font.
