Job Title: Host/Hostess Department: Front of House
Reports To: Restaurant Manager / Shift Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary:The Host/Hostess is the first point of contact for guests, responsible for creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. They manage reservations, control seating arrangements, and ensure efficient guest flow while providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, and able to handle busy service periods with ease.
Key Responsibilities:

• Greet guests with a warm and friendly demeanor upon arrival
• Manage reservations, waitlists, and seating assignments to optimize table turnover
• Escort guests to their tables and provide menus
• Communicate wait times to guests accurately and courteously
• Assist with takeout orders and phone inquiries as needed
• Keep the front entrance, lobby, and host stand clean and organized
• Work closely with servers and management to ensure smooth service flow
• Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary
• Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down the host stand
• Follow all restaurant policies, health, and safety guidelines

Qualifications:

• Previous hosting or customer service experience preferred but not required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable standing for extended periods and moving around the restaurant
• Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Experience with reservation systems (e.g., OpenTable, Resy, or Yelp) is a plus
