American Museum Of Natural History Associate, Volunteer Services
The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education and exhibition.
The Volunteer Services department is seeking a full-time Volunteer Associate to provide office support and act upon tasks issued by managers, assist volunteers and support the staff.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain and manage the Volunteer Office's front desk and telephones.
- Coordinate new and renewed identification badges for volunteers.
- Provide an organized, effective and welcoming presentation of the office to volunteers, visitors and other Museum staff.
- Help with distribution and maintenance of listening devices for daily public tours.
- Attend the morning operations meeting.
- Enter volunteer hours and update volunteer information in the volunteer database.
- Assist with the Volunteer Recognition event (e.g., making copies, setting up tables).
- Organize training materials and office documents (e.g., filing, copying handouts, mailings).
- Check in and coordinate volunteers during training, lectures and walk-throughs.
- Stock the information desk daily.
- Assist the Associate Director and Senior Manager with special projects.
- Occasionally staff off-hours onsite events (e.g., Family Party, Volunteer Recognition, onsite lectures).
- Maintain availability including weekends and holidays.
The expected salary range for the Volunteer Associate is $42,000/annual - $47,000/annual. This position is overtime-eligible and the AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.
Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience.
Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: - Demonstrated interest in/passion for AMNH exhibits and content (e.g., life sciences, physical sciences, anthropology/human cultures).
