Job Description

Appraises industrial real estate and personal property to establish countywide estimates of values. Establishes the final fair market value estimates on all appraisals. Assists and monitors County Assessors in their administrative duties relative to property valuation. Selected candidate will display a comprehensive knowledge of professional appraisal approaches, thorough knowledge of WV appraisal and assessment laws and policies, and skill in written and oral presentation of factual material. Must have a valid driver’s license and availability of a reliable vehicle as frequent travel is required, including possible overnight travel. Must be willing to travel in the area of assignment. These positions can be based in the Tax Division’s Offices in Charleston, Beckley, Parkersburg, or Clarksburg, but may be asked to travel anywhere in the state. Performs all related work as required. Applicants are subject to an extensive criminal background check and tax compliance check.

Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

OR

Substitution:  Additional experience may substitute for the required training at a rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty semester hours.

AND

Experience: Five (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as an appraiser.

AND

Special Requirement: A valid driver’s license is required.
